The Senate is set to begin debate on Monday (May 14th, 2007) on legislation to grant amnesty (legal residence) to many or most of the estimated 12 million illegal aliens in the United States and to establish some kind of a "guest worker" program. As we go to press, it appears that the bill either will be a compromise between Republicans and Democrats or reintroduction of the amnesty/guest worker bill passed by the Senate last year. That legislation would have granted amnesty to an estimated 10 of 12 million illegals in the country, while bringing large additional numbers of guest workers. Although that measure passed the Senate, some senators who supported it then are having reservations now.
This confusion has given encouragement to immigration reformers who hope that the Senate will have difficulty passing an amnesty/guest worker bill during this session. If the legislation does not pass this year, many Washington observers believe it will not pass next year either, due to the presidential election season. Now is the time to act - contact your senator and take action today!
AIC Offers New Video
Americans for Immigration Control has just completed a new 15-minute DVD entitled America — Rule of Law or Anarchy. It depicts the growing lawlessness and anarchy brought about by unchecked illegal immigration. The video features interviews with local officials who discuss the impact of illegal alien crime in their communities-and what they're doing about it. Footage also shows illegal aliens and their supporters expressing contempt for our country and our laws.
The video has received good reviews from viewers. Many recommend it as a means to raise public awareness in areas outside the "front lines" of illegal alien impact. To order the video ($15.00) visit www.immigrationcontrol.com/videos.htm
Alleged Plotters Include Illegals
Authorities have charged six Islamic militants with allegedly plotting to kill American service personnel at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Columnist Michelle Malkin reported on vdare.com (5/8/07) that "Three of the alleged plotters were illegal alien brothers from the former Yugoslavia. Another was a legal permanent resident from the former Yugoslavia. Another hailed from Jordan, and the sixth was a naturalized American citizen from Turkey."
